I have been watching a John Wayne western with my wife Rooster Cogburn and the Lady and it reminds me of the time I spent watching these movies with my father. I am also reminded of the types of heroes that kids back then had. These days kids look up to rock stars, rappers and other people that are not great role models. I am glad I was able to have movies like this and Man from Snowy River, Old Yeller, Where the Red Fern Grows and all sorts of other movies that made young boys want to have True Grit and work hard at becoming a man. I still remember the first time I watched The Cowboys. It's still one of my favorites. I say as men we need to take the time to watch these type of movies with our boys.

I agree With You 100%. I think that it is a shame the way so many young men today don't know what it means to be a man. I get tired of hearing stories about young punk (some not so young) who decided that it would be fun to beat up on his girlfriend or shoot someone because he was wearing the wrong color. Then they further act like pansies by blaming other people for their problems, and saying that it wasn't their fault. After working so many years with troubled youth it still amazes me to see the lack of character and principles based in truth. I agree that boys in today’s world need real men to teach them the truly important lessons in life, to show them how to respect the women in their lives, and to instill in them a sense of self worth and pride in the fact that they can be great if they will only choose to be. I am great full for the men that I had as examples in my life, especially my father and grandfather who taught me that I didn't have to look down from anyone, that I was an important person and that I deserved to look anyone in the face. I hope that I can do my part to pass that on to other people thru out my life. (by the way I think my favorite John Wayne movies would be True Grit, and McLintock)
Thanks
